INDIA fails her daughter yet again
Another victim dead. INDIA fails her daughters yet again.
This post is about the brutal gang rape and murder of a 19 year old girl from the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.
This poor girl was beaten up so badly that she was left paralyzed, Her spine was broken, Her tongue cut and she was left bleeding to die in the fields.
The victim was struggling for her life under the ventilator for close to 2 weeks and her condition showed no signs of improvement. She eventually succumbed to her injuries a couple of days ago.
While her family was still grieving her loss, to their horror the shameless UP police cremated her in the dead of the night without even letting her family perform the last rites.
There are videos showing her family literally begging the police officers to let them have her body but they were forced into their homes and locked as the police callously burnt her body.
It goes to show that the government does not care for the poor or they would not have hurried to burn her body. The criminals who killed her are from the upper caste unlike the ones from Hyderabad who were killed in an encounter after huge outrage.
What hurts the most is that this poor lady and her family will never get any justice. The CM and the PM may tweet about giving strict punishment to the accused and doing an SIT probe but I don't think the accused will be tried for their crimes let alone be convicted.
The question is who do we hold accountable? The CM, the PM or the cops?
The CM of UP claims to have brought law and order under control yet there are incidents of rapes and murders happening every other day. One can say that the CM and PM are busy and have other matters to tend to. Yeah they're all right.
Mr. Yogi is busy trying to find a city that he can rename, His cops busy in fake encounters and the PM is busy with his peacocks. Many of the ministers in the ruling government had staged Dharnas during the Nirbhaya incident when they were in opposition but are sitting mute now. While we stress the need to be vocal for local but I don't see anybody becoming vocal for these issues. You may build a temple in Ayodhya but there will never be Ram rajya as long as these predators roam freely, and as long as our mindset stays the same.
Time and again the demand for stricter laws has been raised by many but nothing has changed. Even the delayed execution of Nirbhaya's killers haven't acted as a deterrent. The incidents of rape are on the rise not just in the largest state of the country but elsewhere too. These predators don't fear punishment because they know they will easily get out of this broken system through its many loopholes.
Just like in the past there will be outrage in the public, there will be protests, candle-light vigils, some media houses would even do debates on the topics of rape and then people will go back to discuss Miss Rhea Chakraborty and whatsapp chats of bollywood stars.
A poor girls life does not matter when it comes to the TRP's for these media houses baring a few. They will go to extreme lengths to try to find out Mr. Rajput's killer or the drug menace in Bollywood but wouldn't spare a second to even run these stories. For Mr. Rajput the media became a 24/7 investigative agency, each reporter became a CSI (Crime scene investigator), What about the millions of other INDIANS who don't get justice? Who will look out for them? How will their story create TRP's for you?
COVID cases are rising and it continues to claim countless lives, China may be occupying our territory, the state of the economy is in a flux, we're going to have negative growth for the first time in decades and we as a country are busy discussing nepotism and drug mafia in bollywood and whatsapp chats of celebrities.
It's not the girls who are responsible for rapes, It's our mindsets. The problem lies in the mentality of the patriarchal INDIAN society wherein a woman is considered inferior to men in the society. It lies in the thought that a man has the right to rule over the body, mind and soul of a woman; that a woman is incomplete without a man. It lies in the thought that a woman dressed "provocatively" wants to be raped. A woman going out to discotheques and pubs, drinking, smoking or going out with a gang of boys is considered to be an easy catch. She is labelled to to be characterless-"A Bad woman" and is considered to be giving an "invitation to rape".The question arises in the male minds is "She is a woman. How can she?". On parallel lines, a man dressed fashionably is cool.He is a dude if he drinks and smokes and has girls swooning around him. How does the society justify this? The mentality that a man must prove his manhood by getting laid with a girl. This patriarchal mentality itself is the main cause of the increasing rape scenario. The root of all causes lies in this cheap mentality. Of course, it is not true for all sectors of the INDIAN society and cannot be generalized, but it stands true for majority of the cases.
Our society has been dealing with this virus of rape for a long time now. It's even bigger than COVID or all of the viruses put together. There is no vaccine for it yet at least in our country.
We need to teach our kids to respect women and treat them as our equals. No matter how civilized we become there will still be some perverts or mentally sick people and the only solution to deal with them is to make an example out of them so that it acts as a deterrent.
I hope and I pray that good days will come and we may finally get rid of this virus. I hope we change our mentality and our attitude towards women.

Where the ladies are respected there the Gods reside
My condolences to her family. May her soul rest in peace _/\ _/\_
