Ayodhya verdict - Let there be peace _/\_
For more than a century, Ayodhya has been at the epicenter of INDIA's religious divide. For many years the secular principles laid down by our constitution managed to keep the tempers in check. But as Islamic fundamentalism stirred in the region, so did Hindu nationalism. This modern day battle has directly or indirectly resulted in thousands of deaths. Ayodhya Ram Janambhoomi case has been a long standing battle between Hindus and Muslims of our country. Thanks to the political system, they have successfully used and abused this issue for political gains and created a permanent scar in our country.
Today, The Supreme court of INDIA finally delivered a solution to this decades old and politically sensitive dispute that has resulted in many riots and has disturbed peace and harmony in the country. This has been one of the most difficult decisions to take for the Judicial system of INDIA. While everyone has welcomed the Supreme court's decision there are still some who are questioning the judgement. We all live in a democracy and everyone has a right to disagree but we should also understand that the Supreme court has always upheld our Constitution and has always delivered unbiased judgements. We must all respect the court's decision and move towards solving the greater issues that are plaguing our nation. Hopefully this decision will bring closure and build confidence among the two communities rather than alienate them. I hope people from both communities come together and build a grand Temple and Mosque right next to each other (although I would have preferred to build a school or a university) and set an example that serves as a stark reminder of religious coexistence in our much diverse country.
I hope the judgement of Ayodhya doesn't begin a phase of replicating this behavior elsewhere in the country. We don't want to repeat the horror of Ayodhya and go about avenging history and create an atmosphere that creates division among our people. I also hope the Supreme court punishes those guilty of inciting mobs and those responsible for the riots in the aftermath of the Babri demolition.
As we forget the past and move towards building a better society, Let us also understand that religions were not created for mass destruction, bitter enmity and brutal killings of people. Religions were, in fact, created to bring the whole world together, to end the sheer violence, for spreading love, peace and humanity and finally making this world a better place. But, when we look at the present scenario today, then it has been turned into it's exact opposite. People are spreading hatred and chaos, fighting, killing and dying in the name of religion. Basically, they're doing everything besides living for their religion or rather living for the sake of humanity. This, instead of uniting has created great ripples in our society today. Lord Ram's ramrajya, would never have looked like this, nor the jannat of Allah. They would've never thought of this hatred and violence, when they propagated their ideals.
A lake has several ghats. At one the Hindus take water in pitchers and call it 'jal'; at another the Muslims take water in leather bags and call 'pani'. At a third the Christians call it 'water'. Can we imagine that it is not 'jal' but only 'pani' or 'water'? How ridiculous! The substance is One under different names, and everyone is seeking the same substance; only climate, temperament, and name create differences. Let each man follow his own path. If he sincerely and ardently wishes to know God, peace be unto him! He will surely realize Him.
Since centuries, we've always been termed and called a "Vishwa - guru". But with time and increasing hatred and violence, it faded away to a large extent. So, now, it's time to mend away the things, which are still not so severe, and by this solution, set a robust example for the whole world to see and learn. Our deep secularism and unending harmony should serve as a deterrent for any further violence in the name of religion.
It's time to be a "Vishwa - Guru" again.
Inshallah, let there be peace, let there be peace and let there be peace.
