Know your PM Candidate : Mr. Akhilesh Yadav.

Name : Akhilesh Mulayam Singh Yadav
State : Uttar Pradesh
Also famously known as : Tipu
Famous Dialogues : BJP chor hai, Karobari ‘Vikas’ Pooch Raha Hai, Is Kagazi Sarkar Se Chutkara Kab Milega, Kaam bolta hai, caste vote dilati hai
Followers : Seculars
Opposers : Bhakts, Andh Bhakts, Pappus

Achievements :

When Mr. Akhilesh Yadav took over the reins of Uttar Pradesh, there was hope across India's most populous state. The son was seen as a better choice even over his experienced father. It was for this very reason that the UP electorate stunned everyone by giving a 224-seat majority to the Samajwadi Party (SP), the best electoral showing since 1952, rejecting Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi also. Akhilesh Yadav signified a momentous change when he took charge as the youngest chief minister of UP, promising a break from his SP’s Luddite politics and its baggage of association with notorious history-sheeters.

He was an open, accessible and democratic Chief Minister. A relief compared to Mayawati, who was inaccessible even to her party leaders, senior bureaucrats and industrialists. As a CM Mr. Yadav was open and accessible, unlike his predecessor. He re-introduced 'Janta Darbar' where people could get access to him and pour out their grievances. As soon as he took the CM chair, he started delivering the promises made during 2012 elections.

The Free laptop distribution scheme headed by Akhilesh Yadav 1.5 million laptops were distributed through the scheme.

Under the 'Kanya Vidyadhan Yojana' scheme, class 12 pass out girls were getting one-time grant of INR 30,000 for higher studies.

He focussed more on improving infrastructure and last mile connectivity, He introduced several Metro projects in the state of UP. His initiative of Clean and green UP earned a place in the Guiness book of world records.

Being far behind in terms of literacy he stressed on education and women safety.

Some people say Mr. Akhilesh Yadav is a man with good intentions but he is not surrounded by good people, unless he breaks out from that circle we cannot see drastic improvements.

Failures :

Governing UP is like governing a nation. Past few govts have failed to rule it like that. The state needs division, and that is the path for development of UP.

Mr. Yadav might have fulfilled some of his promises made during his campaign like free laptops, unemployment allowance, providing monetary allowance to girls from economically weaker strata for pursuing higher education or their marriage etc., but these were populist measures which at the end of the day, have ended up burdening up the common man.

Moroever, the failures during his governance(many communal riots in a short span, ever increasing crime, ministers with their incongruous comments, many power centres (his father, his uncle) and corruption) has ended up negating even the little goodwill he had.

He is yet to emerge as a firm ruler. His promises remained mostly unfulfilled and the former CM appeared to be struggling to be the agent of change that he symbolised.

The failures during his governance(many communal riots in a short span, ever increasing crime, ministers with their incongruous comments, many power centres (his father, his uncle) and corruption) ended up negating even the little goodwill he had.

During his tenure, the House of representatives of UP was home to goons, hate - preachers, thugs, rapists, murderers and sometimes even terrorists. The population of UP actually didn't mind it as far as they belonged to their respective castes.

His own deputy would run the state machinery as if they were his servants. Sending policemen in search of his buffaloes was on such example of his failure to curb his own party men. God forbids if he becomes the PM, then chances are that his deputy would utilize the whole INDIAN army to look for his buffaloes in the entire country and abroad :P

Jokes apart. He failed to curb crime when he was the CM as most of his own minsters were involved. UP was and is still a safe haven for criminals. Same goes for Bihar as well.

24 hour electricity is still a distant dream in most of the country but in UP its even worse. There are places that barely get 12 hrs a day and this situation hasn't improved yet.

The migration of population to other metro cities still continues to this day and this is because successive governments in UP have failed to generate jobs and give employment to the youth which has resulted in increase of crimes. The people of UP are a hard working lot but they have to suffer humiliation in other cities and states just because their own state and government has failed them.

At the end of the day, if you ask the people who have benefited from these populist policies, some of them might grade him as a decent CM. However, in the larger picture, these kind of policies have actually set the state back, hence, no, there have not been any notable achievements which paint him as a good CM or a PM candidate.

Overall I would rate him as an emerging candidate but not someone who can yet fill the shoes of the PM, He's still got a long way to go before the country can accept him as a PM.

I've tried to keep this post as unbiased as possible but feel free to post your comments and add your inputs. As always I would once again like to say that I do not belong to any political party or endorse one. I am not paid by any political party's IT cell and these are just my views. A common man expressing his common views.

As I end this fifth post, I would like to remind people that your vote counts and your vote matters. When you head out to vote, please vote for the right candidate, please vote for a candidate with a clean image, please vote for someone who talks development and can do development. Voting based on Emotions, Religion, Region, Caste and language isn't going to yield anything. Don't fall into their false propaganda, false gifts and false promises because if you do and these people happen to win then you will lose. Don't vote for a candidate who belongs to your favourite PM candidate's party just because you want that person to be the PM. If the person from other party is good and can bring about a change then vote for that person since a PM is not going to come to you and solve your local issues.

If you think none of the candidates in your area are good then press NOTA (None of the Above). Development should be the sole goal when we head out to vote.

Let's believe in our constitution and believe that we can bring about a change.

Please exercise your right to vote.

Power is not in the hands of visionary but power hunters, who want power irrespective of its utility.

Fifth post on Miss. Mayawati. (Yes, she also wants to become the PM ;) ) Coming soon..
