Voting begins : Phase 1

Today marks the beginning of the first phase of the General elections in INDIA also known as the worlds largest elections. Statistically speaking, around 900 million people above the age of 18 will be eligible to cast their ballots at around one million polling stations across the country. Thats roughly around 3 times the population of United States.

People from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep will be or have already started casting their votes today.

As you head out to vote remember to choose a leader who will invest in building bridges, not walls. Books, not weapons. Morality, not corruption. Intellectualism and wisdom, not ignorance. Stability, not fear and terror. Peace, not chaos. Love, not hate. Convergence, not segregation. Tolerance, not discrimination. Fairness, not hypocrisy. Substance, not superficiality. Character, not immaturity. Transparency, not secrecy. Justice, not lawlessness. Environmental improvement and preservation, not destruction. Truth, not lies. Do not fall prey to false promises or false gifts.

Remember Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely.

Choose wisely if you want to live well for the next 5 years.

“Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.” - Abraham Lincoln

So If you haven’t already voted, please take the time today to make your voice heard and use the right to vote.
